Casa Chidori

Light as living geometry

Casa Chidori is a project where every element breathes architecture — and light, rather than playing a supporting role, becomes the invisible seam between matter, rhythm and silence. Winner of the LIT Lighting Design Awards 2024, this house shows how control over light can turn a formal composition into a deep sensory experience.

Lighting concept

WeLight signed the lighting curation with an approach that goes beyond aesthetics. Here light reveals volumes with millimetric precision, follows the linearity of the materials and brings out natural textures such as wood, stone and fabrics in neutral tones.

  • Linear, recessed LED strips run along slatted surfaces and vertical panels, creating geometries of controlled shadow.
  • Recessed profiles with asymmetric beams and continuous slots follow the architecture fluidly.
  • The light is warm (~2700K), with high CRI and UGR <10, favouring sensory comfort without giving up technical intensity.

Atmospheres

  • In the living and dining areas, perimeter light draws the wood and turns the ceiling into a floating plane.
  • In the private areas, scene control moves between introspection and full warmth, with diffuse lighting and directed accents.
  • The walk-in closet and bathrooms receive functional light with a scenographic edge — bringing out reflective surfaces and fine textures.

Technical resources

  • Automation compatible with DALI or 0-10V, allowing programmed scenes
  • Colour temperature: 2700K
  • CRI: >90 (colour fidelity is essential for natural materials)
  • UGR: <10, ensuring visual comfort
  • Technical and decorative fixtures integrated into the architectural design

In short

Casa Chidori is a house where light does not merely follow the architecture — it directs it.

The award at the LIT Lighting Design Awards 2024 confirms the project as an international reference in residential lighting, and WeLight as a leading voice in atmospheres that bring together technique, beauty and emotion.
