Japandi Apartment

Light, matter and silence in balance

In the Japandi Apartment, light does not take up space — it reveals it. In this project by Guilherme Torres, WeLight developed a lighting scheme that respects and heightens the essence of the Japandi style, where Japanese minimalism meets Scandinavian softness.

Lighting works as a silent language, drawing the space with subtle, controlled gestures. Nothing is gratuitous. Everything is intentional.

Overall concept

The light was conceived to create an atmosphere of contemplation, rest and refinement.

More than lighting volumes, the aim was to create visual pauses, accentuate textures and induce a sense of flow between the architectural elements. The luminous presence is light, yet unmistakable.

Living areas

The living room invites you to pause. It is a visual invitation to silence.

Backlit shoji-style panels run along the perimeter of the room, creating an envelope of warm light (~2700K) that brings out the natural wood.
Recessed light with asymmetric beams highlights the joinery and the sculptural objects without glare.
High CRI guarantees the colour fidelity of the natural tones, intensifying the sensory presence of the materials.

Dining room and bar

The sideboard is bathed in soft indirect light, creating a setting of refined introspection.
Layers of light work together to highlight architectural elements with lightness and precision.
All the lighting is recessed or diffuse, with no visual interference, respecting the concept of absence.

Circulation and entrance hall

The transition between rooms is made by continuous light recessed into the ceilings and by illuminated vertical panels that reinforce the shoji language.
Symmetric, diffuse beams guide the route naturally, avoiding hard contrasts.
The space moves in silence — led by light.
