Ilhabela House

Light as an extension of nature

Suspended between the sea and the forest, the Ilhabela House is a work where contemporary tropical architecture finds in lighting a silent, sensitive ally. WeLight translated into light the natural gestures of this project: timber structures, generous openings, complete integration between inside and outside.

Here lighting works as an invisible thread of continuity, joining volumes, planes and atmospheres — always respecting the rhythm of the surroundings and the nuances of a day dissolving into night.

Overall concept

The light was conceived to welcome without intruding. The scheme avoids artificial prominence and chooses instead to bring out textures, natural materials and the frank relationship with the landscape. Every room was designed with layers of warm light (~2700K), low glare (UGR <10) and high CRI, enhancing surfaces in wood, stone and straw.

Living areas

Sloped ceilings with timber slats receive linear light slots, giving continuous, diffuse perimeter lighting.
Recessed light with soft asymmetric beams highlights the geometry of the roof and the natural furniture.
The lighting dissolves between the beams, revealing the architecture precisely and without visual noise.

Outdoor kitchen and integrated exterior

Technical lighting recessed into the upper planes brings function and visual comfort to the outdoor kitchen and lounges.
The transition to the outdoor areas is made with protected fixtures (IP65) and narrow-beam floodlights that draw volumes with subtlety.
Linear LED strips under sills and steps describe the space at nightfall without overloading the scene.

Façades and pool

Vertical beams wash the timber façades with controlled grazing, bringing out the texture without excess.
Underwater lighting in the pool is discreet and precise, keeping the water and the night landscape in the leading role.
The result is cinematic, but essentially sensory.

🛏️ Private areas and spa

The light is soft and introspective. Wall lights and recessed coves create visual comfort.
In the suites, lighting works as an extension of the joinery: diffuse, warm, focused on texture and calm.
