High-End Showroom Rio
A showroom where every room demonstrates a behaviour of light
The Rio showroom of High-End is a store that works as a house: a home cinema room, a kitchen, a wine cellar, a staircase and a jazz club in the basement. Every room exists to show a system in operation, and the lighting is part of what is for sale.
The project works in two registers. On the main floor the light is restrained and serves the rosewood joinery and the equipment. In the jazz club, it becomes the show itself.
Demonstration areas
- In the home cinema room, a low level and no light source within sight of the screen, with the wood receiving soft grazing light.
- Linear light under the extractor hood and under the wall units in the kitchen, solving the counter without a downlight over the cook's head.
- The climate-controlled wine cellar is lit from within, bottle by bottle, and reads as a lit panel on the dark wall.
- On the staircase, continuous light recessed into the handrail, lighting the tread and not the eyes of those coming up.
Jazz club
- Programmable colour around the ceiling perimeter and on the curtains, taking the whole room from blue to red.
- Backlit onyx counter, which becomes the main light source in the room when everything else is off.
- Narrow beams over the bottle display and the stage, dimmed together with the scene.
